Calgary, AB - Derek Hulak and the Saskatoon Blades (21-6-0-3) host Matt Calvert and the Brandon Wheat Kings (20-11-0-2) for a key East Division battle in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday night.

Wednesday's contest between the Blades and Wheat Kings can be seen LIVE throughout western Canada on SHAW TV and on SHAW Direct Channel 299 (7:00pm CST).

The Blades are coming off a 5-1 loss in Red Deer to the Rebels on Saturday night for their third defeat in their last four outings, but remain in first place in the East Division - three points up on the Wheat Kings. The Blades are 11-2 on home ice this season. Hulak (13g-25a) leads the Blades and is tied for 15th among all WHL players in scoring with 38 points this season.

The Wheat Kings skated to a 6-4 win in Regina over the Pats on Saturday night for their third straight victory and their seventh win in eight games, and currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Wheat Kings have won four of their last five road games. Calvert leads the Wheat Kings with 21 goals, including six shorthanded markers and five game-winners.

It's the fourth meeting of the season between the Blades and Wheat Kings. The Wheat Kings won two of the first three meetings between the teams.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, Steele Boomer and the Kootenay Ice (15-14-1-1) host Mark Pysyk and the Edmonton Oil Kings (8-16-4-4) for a Central Division match-up.

The Ice fell 4-1 in Prince George on Friday night, snapping their four-game winning streak, but remain in third place in the Central Division and eighth in the Eastern Conference. The Ice are 7-6-1-1 on home ice this season.

The Oil Kings are coming off Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Giants for their eighth consecutive setback, and currently occupy fifth place in the division. The Oil Kings have lost five straight and 11 of their last 12 road games.

In Prince Albert, SK, Craig McCallum and the Prince Albert Raiders (17-14-1-2) host Brendan Rowinski and the Moose Jaw Warriors (16-12-1-1) for an East Division clash on Wednesday.

The Raiders dropped a 4-1 decision in Regina to the Pats on Sunday for their second defeat in their last three games, but remain in third place in the East Division. McCallum has points in 13 of his last 16 games, racking up eight goals and 14 assists in that span.

The Warriors suffered a 3-1 loss in Swift Current to the Broncos on Friday night for their second straight setback and their sixth defeat in seven games, and currently share fifth place in the East Division with the Broncos. Rowinski leads the Warriors with 19 goals and 35 points this season.

In Red Deer, AB, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and the Red Deer Rebels (15-14-0-0) host Bretton Cameron and the Medicine Hat Tigers (17-10-2-4) for a Central Division match-up on Wednesday.

The Rebels are coming off Saturday's 5-1 win over the visiting Saskatoon Blades for their second victory in a row, and currently sit two points behind Kootenay for third place in the Central Division. Nugent-Hopkins has scored six goals over his last seven games.

The Tigers edged the Hurricanes 4-3 in Lethbridge on Monday night, snapping a mini two-game losing skid, and currently sit in second place in the Central Division. Cameron leads the Tigers with 23 goals this season, but has just one tally in his last five outings.

In Regina, SK, Jordan Eberle and the Regina Pats (16-14-3-0) welcome Shane McColgan and the Kelowna Rockets (16-15-1-0) on Wednesday.

The Pats skated to a 4-1 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders on Sunday to snap a two-game losing streak, and currently sit in fourth place in the East Division. Eberle has piled up eight goals and 11 points over his last four outings.

The Rockets snuck past the Swift Current Broncos with a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night for their third win in their last four games, and currently occupy second place in the B.C. Division. The Rockets have won their last four road games.

In Kennewick, WA, Johnny Lazo and the Tri-City Americans (21-8-0-0) host Marek Viedensky and the Prince George Cougars (5-23-1-1) on Wednesday.

The Americans skated to two road wins on the weekend, defeating the Kamloops Blazers 7-0 on Friday then downing the Kelowna Rockets 5-1 on Saturday, and currently sit in first place in the U.S. Division and Western Conference standings. Lazo enjoyed back-to-back hat trick performances on the weekend.

The Cougars were blanked 3-0 in Spokane on Tuesday night for their 14th consecutive road loss, and remain in fifth place in the B.C. Division and 10th in the Western Conference. The Cougars have been outscored 139-69 this season.

In other WHL action on Wednesday, Kevin Connauton and the Vancouver Giants (19-11-1-2) host Ryan Howse and the Chilliwack Bruins (13-15-1-4) for the back half of a home-and-home series between the B.C. Division rivals.

The Giants were shut out 4-0 in Chilliwack on Sunday for their third defeat in their last four games, but remain in first place in the B.C. Division. The Giants are 13-8-0-0 on home ice this season.

The Bruins snapped a two-game losing skid with Sunday's 4-0 win over the Giants, and currently sit two points behind Kelowna for second place in the B.C. Division. Howse has tallied four goals in his last three outings.
