Blades Fifth In CHL Rankings

December 9, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades have moved down one spot to #5 in the most recent instalment of BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 Rankings that were released on Wednesday afternoon.

The Blades were in action three times last week all on the road. Last Wednesday, they fell 7-2 at the hands of the Brandon Wheat Kings. On Friday, the team responded with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers. The week wrapped up on Saturday with a 5-1 loss to the Red Deer Rebels.

The weekly rankings of the Canadian Hockey League's Top 10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts. So far this season the Blades have appeared nine times on the list.

The Blades are in action tonight at Credit Union Centre as they look for revenge on the Wheat Kings. Game time is 7:05 pm. Tickets are available online at ticketmaster.ca, by calling 938-7800, or by visiting any Ticketmaster outlet.

Just one week remains before the Blades' fifth annual GlobalTV Toque Toss and $5 Ticket Night on Wednesday, December 16th when the Kelowna Rockets are in town. In an effort to keep the less fortunate citizens of Saskatoon warm this winter, fans are encouraged to bring toques, scarves, mittens, and other warm winter clothing to throw on the ice following the Blades' first goal of the night. The collected clothing will be donated to a host of local groups in conjunction with MD Ambulance. Game tickets for that night only will be $5. The special ticket rate is now available at the Credit Union Centre box office. The game also marks the first Budget Car & Truck Rental Raincheck Night of the year. Fans can bring any unused season tickets to the game and get in for just $2.
