Spokane Chiefs News Release

Michael Tadjdeh's second career shutout, his first as a Chief, and three goals by three different players gave the Spokane Chiefs a 3-0 win over the Prince George Cougars on Tuesday night in the Spokane Arena. The win was their fifth in a row, a new season high, and pulls the Chiefs within two points of the idle Tri-City Americans for first place in the U.S. Division. The Americans have 42 points, Portland 41 and Spokane 40 in the tight division race.

Jared Spurgeon scored the game's first goal on a shot from the right circle that beat Cougar goaltender Hudson Stremmel to the glove side on the left post. Tyler Johnson and Blake Gal assisted on the play.

Jared Cowen went end-to-end and backhanded in his fifth of the year at 16:11 of the first to put Spokane up 2-0. The score would remain that way until Blake Gal crashed the net at 7:20 of the third and created a rebound for Tyler Johnson to put away for the final tally of the night. Gal was named the game's first star.

Tadjdeh finished the night with 25 saves, including 14 in the third, for his third win as a Chief. In six starts in Spokane, Tadjdeh has a 2.18 goals against average and.923 save percentage.

The shutout was Spokane's third in four outings at home, dating back to a 1-0 win over Kelowna on November 15th. After five straight road games, the Chiefs returned home to shutout Regina 4-0 on November 28th. Seattle scored twice on Spokane last Friday night.

Spokane will play twice this weekending, including a Friday trip to Chilliwack to take on the Bruins. Saturday night, the Chiefs will host the Swift Current Broncos on Teddy Bear Toss Night presented by The Spokesman-Review Christmas Fund.

Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
