Dayton, Ohio-The Lake County Captains scored three runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth to erase a 5-1 deficit and defeat the Dayton Dragons 6-5 on Tuesday night. A crowd of 7,328 was in attendance at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District.

The Dragons built a 5-1 lead and seemed to hold command of the contest but failed to take full advantage of their scoring opportunities, leaving runners in scoring position in six consecutive innings as they were held scoreless after the fifth inning. It was a rough night for the Dayton bullpen after starting pitcher Hunter Parks left with a big lead.

Lake County took advantage of three walks in the third inning to score the first run of the game, but the Dragons responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Justice Thompson walked with one out and moved to third on Edwin Arroyo's double off the left field fence. Blake Dunn followed with bouncer over the glove of the shortstop into center field for a base hit that brought in both Thompson and Arroyo to give the Dragons a 2-1 lead.

The Dragons added three more runs in the fifth. Dunn started the rally with a single to center field and Austin Hendrick walked. A wild pitch scored Dunn and moved Hendrick to third. With one out, Austin Callahan lined a double to the left field corner to drive in Hendrick and make it 4-1, and Tyler Callihan singled to right to plate Austin Callahan and give the Dragons a 5-1 lead.

Parks had his second straight excellent outing. He worked five innings, allowing one run on just one hit with three walks and six strikeouts.

Manuel Cachutt followed Parks to the mound and pitched a scoreless sixth inning before running into big problems with two outs in the seventh. Cachutt retired the first two batters in the inning before allowing a walk and then four consecutive hits as Lake County scored three runs to make it 5-4. Vin Timpanelli replaced Cachutt to get the final out of the inning, stranding runners at second and third.

But Timpanelli (0-1) walked the first two batters in the eighth inning before surrendering a two-run double to Will Bartlett that gave Lake County a 6-5 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth, Arroyo and Dunn both walked to start a potential rally, but Hendrick struck out, Mat Nelson popped out, and Austin Callahan lined out to shortstop on a fine play by Lake County's Yordys Valdez to end the threat. The Dragons were retired in order in the ninth.

The Dragons had six hits over the first five innings, but they finished the night with just seven. Dunn reached base five times, going 3 for 3 with a walk and a hit batsman. He stole two bases, drove in two runs, and scored once. Tyler Callihan had two hits and an RBI.

Dragons hitters struck out 10 times in the game including eight times with runners in scoring position and three times with the bases loaded in the fourth inning.
