Lacroix Leads Stingrays Past Road Warriors

Greenville, SC - Forward Maxime Lacroix scored two goals including the game-winning tally in the third period to give the South Carolina Stingrays (36-28-4-3) a 3-2 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors (41-24-2-4) Friday night at the Bi-Lo Center.

The Road Warriors opened the scoring 31 seconds into the game with a tally from forward Jeremy Gouchie knocking a loose puck past Stingrays goaltender Daren Machesney (W, 28 saves on 30 shots). Forwards Jason Wilson and Chris McKelvie earned assists. The Stingrays tied the game on the power play at 11:40 of the first period when Lacroix blasted a pass from Johann Kroll over the glove of Road Warriors netminder Nic Riopel (L, 35 saves on 38 shots) from the right-wing circle. Defenseman Zach Tarkir added the second assist. Road Warriors forward Marc-Olivier Vallerand reclaimed the lead on a 5-on-3 man-advantage marker at 16:52 from defenseman Blake Parlett and forward Justin Bowers.

Stingrays forward Daniel Koger tied the contest back up 1:30 into the second frame on the power play from forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien and Kroll.

Lacroix buried the game-winning goal at 13:38 of the third period from Koger and Tarkir. The Stingrays finished the game 2-for-5 on the power play while the Road Warriors went 1-for-3.

The Stingrays celebrate Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night tomorrow, Saturday, March 31 against the Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum!
