The Elmira Jackals play their regular season home finale at 7:35 p.m. as they welcome the Reading Royals to First Arena. The Jackals, who have won the Atlantic Division title, take a six-game winning streak into the action as they trail the Gwinnett Gladiators by one point for first place in the Eastern Conference with two contests to go in 2011-2012. Reading, currently on a four-game winning streak, is in a three-way tie for seventh place in the conference. The Royals can clinch a playoff spot tonight with a victory in regulation or in sudden death and a Chicago loss, or with a shootout win, a Chicago regulation loss, and a Cincinnati loss.
JACKALS TRY TO TIE WINS RECORD TONIGHT
The Jackals, who have a club record in ECHL play of 44 wins this season, will look for their 45th victory of the season tonight, which would tie their overall franchise record. The Jackals won 45 contests in the 74-game UHL season of 2001-2002.
GAZLEY'S AWARDS PILE IN
Dustin Gazley earned league honors on consecutive days this week, being named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team on Wednesday and the All-ECHL First Team on Thursday. Gazley, whose 10-game assist streak and 18-game road point streak came to an end on Wednesday, leads all ECHL skaters with 81 points, one ahead of Las Vegas' Adam Miller. If Gazley wins the league scoring title, he would become the fifth rookie in ECHL history to lead all skaters in points.
