March 30, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals announced multiple roster moves prior to their home game on Friday night against the Reading Royals.
The Jackals have signed forward Nick Dineen and goaltender Joe Palmer to standard player contracts. Elmira has been assigned defenseman Josh Godfrey by its AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Additionally, forward Corey Cowick has been recalled by the B-Sens while goaltender Timo Pielmeier has been recalled by the AHL's Albany Devils.
Dineen will make his professional debut tonight against the Royals. The Omaha, Neb. native recently completed his collegiate career at Colorado College (NCAA, D-I), serving as the Tigers' captain in his senior season of 2011-2012. This season, Dineen set career highs of 14 goals, 12 assists, and 26 points. During his four-year run with the Tigers, Dineen notched 67 points (34g-33a) in 140 games.
Palmer, who was claimed off of waivers yesterday by Elmira, has posted a combined 12-10-1-2 record with a .904 save percentage and a 3.20 goals-against average in 28 contests with the Royals, the Gwinnett Gladiators, and the Florida Everblades this season. The Yorkville, N.Y. native went 10-14-1-0 with the Toledo Walleye in 2010-2011 with a .870 save percentage and a 4.17 goals-against average. In his rookie season of 2009-2010, Palmer went 13-10-4-0 with a .914 save percentage and a 2.75 goals-against average with the CHL's Texas Brahmas. Prior to turning pro, Palmer tended net for three seasons at Ohio State University (NCAA, D-I) from 2006-2009. He was selected in the fourth round (96th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.
Godfrey, a fourth-year pro, scored his first goal as a Jackal on Feb. 14 and has also added two assists for three points with the club in 2011-2012. A native of Collingwood, Ontario, Godfrey has scored two goals and has added six assists for eight points in 36 contests with Binghamton this season.
Cowick, a second-year pro from Gloucester, Ontario, has eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 22 contests with the Jackals in 2011-2012 while accumulating 11 points (5g-6a) in 50 contests with the B-Sens this season.
Pielmeier, a third-year pro, is 17-10-1-2 with Elmira this season, displaying a .910 save percentage and a 2.72 goals-against average. The 22-year-old from Deggendorf, Germany is 1-0-0-0 with Albany this season with a .938 save percentage and a 2.31 goals-against average.
