Kane County 3 @ Clinton 1 The L-Kings failed to support Michael Schlact (5-3; 4.86) who delivered a quality start, holding the Cougars to three runs on eight hits and a walk in six innings of work.
The Clinton lineup managed just four base hits all day, including a solo shot from Ian Gac, his sixth big fly of the year.
Marc Lamacchia (2.81 ERA) provided yet another impressive relief effort, blanking Kane County for two innings while allowing one base hit and fanning two. Texas A&M alum Matt Farnum (2.73) was perfect in the ninth.
NOTE: In the game that began Friday night that was continued on Saturday afternoon, John Bannister (3.88) allowed one run on six hits and no walks before Kevin Altman (3.77) picked it up on Saturday, dealing four strong innings, allowing a run on four hits. Emerson Frostad belted his seventh dinger of the year in a 1-4 effort while Brandon Cashman went 2-5 with an RBI double from the one hole.
