Campbell Lands on Disabled List

(Burlington, IA) - The Kansas City Royals placed Burlington Bees LHP Matt Campbell on the disabled list effective yesterday. Campbell sprained his ankle in a game against the Beloit Snappers on June 1st at Community Field. He missed his next turn in the rotation while the ankle healed, but now is going on the DL with a strained left shoulder. He is expected to be out up to two weeks. His roster spot will not be immediately filled, leaving the Bees active roster at 24.

The Bees finish the first half with seven consecutive road games starting with the first of three tonight in Cedar Rapids. LH Danny Christensen will start for the Bees in game one tonight at 7:00 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on KBUR AM 1490 and KBKB AM 1360 with the pre-game show starting at 6:40.

The Bees be back in action at Community Field after the All-Star Break as the team hosts the Beloit Snappers for a four-game set to open the second half on Thursday, June 23rd. The series will open with a Fat Tuesdays Thirsty Thursday and the official Burlington/West Burlington Chamber of Commerce Friday Fest returns to Community Field on June 24th. The band South 61 will be performing from 4:30-6:30 sponsored by F&M Bank & Trust, American Red Cross, Riverview Designs, and Golden Eagle Distributing. Fans should enter through at the Budweiser Brat Garden and anyone arriving before 6:00 will be admitted for $3 which includes a free drink and the opportunity to stay for the game without an extra ticket.
