Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - Elmira Jackals defenseman Tomas Kudelka picked up two assists and was one of four players with multi-point efforts, but it wasn't enough as the American Conference dropped a 10-7 verdict to the National Conference in the Chase Chevrolet All-Star Game in front of 7,455 fans at Stockton Arena Wednesday night.
Kudelka, a 5th round (136th overall) pick by Ottawa in 2005 NHL Entry Draft, set up South Carolina's Travis Morin for the game's first goal just 1:58 into the contest and picked up a helper on a scoring strike by Wheeling's Jon D'Aversa with 10:34 left in regulation.
Victoria Salmon Kings forward Ash Goldie was named the game's Most Valuable Player. Goldie led the National Conference to victory with an ECHL All-Star game record six-point night that included a hat trick and three assists.
The 10 goals is the most scored by a team since the Canada All-Stars set the record with 11 goals on Jan. 20, 1998 at Lafayette, La. and it ties the record for second-most goals set by the North All-Stars on Jan. 23, 1996 at Tallahassee, Fla.
The 17 goals by both teams is the most scored since 1998 when the teams combined for 18 goals and ties the record for second-most goals set by the teams in 1996. The two teams combined for four goals in the third period, tying the record for third-most goals by both teams in a period.
Former Elmira Jackals forward Ryan MacMurchy picked up an assist for the victorious National Conference squad. MacMurchy completed this season's training camp with the Jackals before being traded to the Stockton Thunder October 24th for future considerations (Luke Fulghum). He did not appear in a regular season contest with Elmira in 2007-08.
