Goldie Leads National All-Stars To 10-7 Win
January 24, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - Led by Most Valuable Player Ash
Goldie of Victoria, who set an ECHL All-Star Game record with six
points, the National Conference beat the American Conference 10-7 in front
of 7,455 fans at Stockton Arena on Wednesday.
Goldie, who scored a goal in each period and had three assists, broke the
record of five points held by Andy MacIntyre of the Canada All-Stars, who
had four goals and an assist on Jan. 20, 1998 at Lafayette, La.
Goldie scored his third goal 22 seconds into the third period to set the
All-Star record for fastest goal at the beginning of a period, breaking the
mark of 23 seconds by Luke
Curtin of the National All-Stars on Jan. 25, 2006 at Fresno, Calif.
Peter
Ferraro of Las Vegas (2g-3a) and Greg
Rallo of Idaho (1g-4a) each had five points while Fresno's Igor
Gongalsky (0g-2a) and Oren
Eizenman (2g-0a) and Utah's Justin
Bourne (0g-2a) all had two points.
Goldie scored at 16:55 of the second period and Ferraro scored 16 seconds
later at 17:11 to set the All-Star record for fastest two goals by one
team, breaking the mark of 17 seconds by Mike Lavenders and MacIntyre of
Canada, who scored at 5:58 of the third and 6:15 of the third,
respectively, in 1998.
Brett
Hemingway of Reading led the American Conference with three points
(1g-2a) while Jon D'Aversa of Wheeling (2g-0a), Tomas
Kudelka of Elmira (0g-2a) and Ryan
Gunderson of Trenton (0g-2a) each had two points.
The 10 goals is the most scored by a team since the Canada All-Stars set
the record with 11 goals on Jan. 20, 1998 at Lafayette, La. and it ties the
record for second-most goals set by the North All-Stars on Jan. 23, 1996 at
Tallahassee, Fla.
The 17 goals by both teams is the most scored since 1998 when the teams
combined for 18 goals and ties the record for second-most goals set by the
teams in 1996. The two teams combined for four goals in the third period,
tying the record for third-most goals by both teams in a period.
