STOCKTON, CA - Although the American Conference fell 10-7 at the 16th Annual ECHL All-Star Game Wednesday night in Stockton, California, Wheeling Nailers defenseman Jon D'Aversa drew some attention by scoring twice. He was the only member of the American Conference team to register a multi-goal game.

D'Aversa, who has no goals and nine assists in 19 games with the Nailers this season, gave the American Conference their final lead of the game at 2-1 with 11:29 remaining in the first period. Tyler Doig (Columbia) and Mathieu Melanson (Florida) helped set D'Aversa up to beat Julien Ellis (Victoria).

The National Conference followed by scoring six unanswered goals and led 7-3 entering the third period. The rookie's second goal of the night came at 9:26 of the third period against Daniel Manzato of the Las Vegas Wranglers. Tomas Kudelka (Elmira) hit D'Aversa with a pass and he knuckled it over the glove of Manzato, making the score 9-5 in favor of the Nationals.

Ash Goldie (Victoria) stole the show with a six-point night (3g, 3a) and earned MVP honors. Peter Ferrao (Las Vegas) had two goals and three assists while line-mate Greg Rallo (Idaho) contributed a goal and four assists.

The Wheeling Nailers are back in action on Friday in Cincinnati for a 7:30pm faceoff. They return home for a rematch with the Cyclones at 8:00pm on Saturday. The game will be televised live on WTOV9 and tickets are BUY-ONE-GET-ONE FREE with a coupon from www.wheelingnailers.com. Call 304-234-GOAL for more information.
