Krysa comes through in 6-1 T-Bones' victory

GARY, Ind. - The Kansas City T-Bones (11-16) claimed their second straight win with a 6-1 victory over the Gary Southshore RailCats (11-16) Friday evening at U.S. Steel Yard in the first of the two clubs' three-game set.
T-Bones' right-hander Jonathan Krysa (4-2) delivered another standout performance by a Kansas City starter, allowing just one run on six hits in 8 2/3 innings, while striking out three RailCats. The Lee's Summit native eclipsed the franchise's career strikeout mark early in the contest when he fanned Chris Curry for his 327th punchout as a T-Bone, surpassing Jeremy McGarity's nine-year-old record.
Gary Southshore kicked off the scoring in the bottom of the third when Alex Taylor laced a line drive off Krysa's back, then scored moments later from third base when a balk was called for a 1-0 RailCats advantage.
The margin would be short-lived, as the T-Bones would score in each of the next four innings, beginning in the top of the fourth when Eddie Pearson clubbed his fourth home run of the season to tie the ballgame at one run apiece. In the top of fifth, Jesse Acosta followed suit by blasting his first professional homer- a two-run shot that brought home Brandon Jones- to give Kansas City a 3-1 lead.
Chad Sosebee doubled to left to drive in Doug Dreher for the T-Bones' fourth run of the game the following inning, and Pat Magness capped the scoring in the seventh, doubling home Charles Peterson, then scoring on a fielding error committed by Taylor.
Byron Embry struck out Andy Rohleder to pick up a save for the second night in a row after he relieved Krysa with runners on the corners and two men out in the ninth. Andy Carter (0-1) suffered the loss for Gary, allowing two runs on four hits in his one inning of work.
The T-Bones and RailCats will face off again Saturday in game two of the series at 7:05 p.m. RHP Larry Robles (3-2, 2.48) gets the starting nod for Kansas City, while the RailCats will send RHP Willie Glen (4-2, 4.50) to the hill.
