Pitcher Sazi Guthrie re-joins RailCats

Gary, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club announced today that pitcher Sazi Guthrie has been signed as a free agent. Guthrie will start tonight's game for the RailCats against the Kansas City T-Bones at U. S. Steel Yard.

Guthrie pitched for the RailCats in 2003 and set the club record for victories in a season with nine (9-5, 4.00 ERA in 20 games). The record was broken by Jamie Bennett in 2005.

After spending the 2003 season with the RailCats, Guthrie's contract was sold to the San Diego Padres. He spent one year in the Padres organization before playing in the independent Golden Baseball League in 2005.

The RailCats host the Kansas City T-Bones tonight through Sunday at U. S. Steel Yard in Gary. Tickets are available by calling (219) 882-BALL (2255).
