Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets made the best of the only game on the schedule for week three posting a 5-0 shutout over the visiting Allen Americans.

It was the first shutout of the season for Fort Wayne as goaltenders Pat Nagle (3 saves) and Eric Hartzell (24 saves) shared the shutout. Hartzell earned the win after entering the game at 3:24 of the first period in relief of Nagle. Five different players scored for the Komets including Mike Cazzola, Kyle Thomas, Mason Baptista, Jamie Schaafsma and Garrett Thompson. Thomas added two assists for his first three-point affair of the season. Bobby Shea also dished a pair of helpers for his first two points of the year. -Gamesheet-

The Komets enter week four with a 4-1-0 record for eight points and an .800 win percentage after the first five games of the season. Tulsa and Toledo lead the Komets and the Central Division with 12 points while Kalamazoo holds a one-point advantage over Fort Wayne with nine points. Each has skated two more games than Fort Wayne.

Komet leaders-- Thomas leads with five assists and seven points.....Schaafsma leads with three goals.....Dan Milan leads with +5.....Taylor Crunk leads with 19 penalty minutes.

Special K's-- The Komets were 6/6 on the penalty kill Friday night to run their penalty kill streak to 18 straight successful kills and rank fourth in the league on the PK at 91.7% (22/24). The Komets added another power play tally Friday and rank third with a power play rating of 25.0% (4/16).

Streaking Komets-- Kyle Thomas has had at least a point in all five games played to date (2g, 5a).....David Friedmann has a three-point scoring-streak (2g, 1a) after dishing his first pro assist Friday night....goaltender Pat Nagle is unbeaten on the season with a three-game win streak.

The week ahead: The Komets will skate three games this week starting with a visit to Cincinnati Wednesday for a 7:35pm faceoff. Friday the Komets return home to host the Indy Fuel at 8pm. The Komets will cap the week with a Sunday matinee at Brampton at 2pm. It will be the first three games out of 11 for the month of November including four home games and seven on the road.

Wednesday, Nov. 2, Komets (4-1-0, 8 points) at Cincinnati Cyclones (2-5-0, 4 points)-- The Komets will make their first of five trips to Cincinnati Wednesday and it will be the first of eight total meetings this season. Last year the Komets and Cyclones split the season series 5-5-0 and were 4-3-0 in seven trips to the U.S. Bank Arena (6,955). Cincy is coming off a three-game weekend series at Manchester (1-2-0) and are 2-2-0 in their last four games after opening the season with three consecutive losses.

Friday, Nov 4, Indy Fuel (2-3-1, 5 points)-- Friday the Komets welcome the Fuel from Indy for the first of four meetings on Sweetwater Ice at the Memorial Coliseum this year and the first of nine meetings overall. The Komets split a pair of exhibition games against the intrastate rival in preseason action. Last year the Komets claimed the season series 7-3-1 and were 5-0-1 when facing the Fuel in Fort Wayne. Indy is idle this week until they travel to Fort Wayne Friday and have are 0-3-1 in their last four games since opening the season with a pair of wins over Cincinnati.

Sunday, Nov. 6, Komets at Brampton Beast (2-0-3, 7 points)-- The Komets will face the Beast in the first of five meetings this season and the first of three at the Powerade Centre (5,000). Fort Wayne dropped Brampton in an exhibition game this preseason 4-2 at the Coliseum on Oct. 10. Last year the Komets were 2-1-1 after four meetings against former Komet Colin Chaulk's Beast. Chaulk is in his second year as Brampton's head coach. The Beast are riding a five-game point streak since the start of the year with each of their first five games requiring extra time to complete. The Beast are coming off a 4-3 shootout win at Missouri Sunday and will host Kalamazoo Friday. Brampton is also off Saturday before facing Fort Wayne Sunday.

After this week, the Komets head for the heartland with games at Tulsa, Missouri and Wichita for the week of Nov. 7. After this Friday's home game against Indy the Komets will not return for a home game until Friday, Nov. 18 when the Quad City Mallards return.

Save with your Marathon Fill-Up Card this Friday when the Indy Fuel visit for an 8pm faceoff on Sweetwater Ice at the Memorial Coliseum.

Komets on the air-- Most Komet games are scheduled to air this season on WOWO AM 1190 and FM 107.5. However this Sunday's game at Brampton will be carried on ESPN AM 1380 and FM 100.9 due to a scheduling conflict.
