October 31, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Monday that goaltender Keegan Asmundson has agreed to terms and has been added to the Fort Wayne roster. Asmundson fills the void made by goaltender Pat Nagle who was place on 21-day injured reserve.
Asmundson, 26, was most recently in Fort Wayne when the Indy Fuel visited for an exhibition game on Oct. 7 and defeated the Komets 4-3. Asmundson earned the preseason win for the Fuel making 25 saves and appeared in all 60 minutes of the game. The Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota native will be entering his second full season after splitting last year in the ECHL with Evansville (seven games) and Indy (13 games). He also started three SPHL games with Pensacola. Asmundson made his pro debut in 2014-15 appearing in three games with South Carolina.
After three years of juniors, the netminder made his collegiate debut in 2012-13 winning the AHA Championship with Canisius College. During his final year of college, Asmundson was named the 2014-15 AHL Goaltender of the Year and named to the AHA Second All-Conference Team while with Canisius.
Nagle was placed on the injured reserve list after starting the season with a goals-against average of 1.31, a .955 save percentage and an undefeated record of 3-0-0 in four appearances.
