
Komets Hit the Road for Three this Week

Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets completed week three of 2011-12 gaining two points in three games played. Center Brett Smith and right wing Bobby Chaumont led the week with a goal and two assists each.
The Komets started the three-game weekend with a 3-2 win over the visiting Rapid City Rush Friday. Saturday the Komets traveled to Evansville and dropped a 3-1 decision at the IceMen's initiation of the new Ford Center in downtown Evansville. Sunday the Komets were clipped 3-2 by the visiting Quad City Mallards to finish the week with a 2-3-0 record after the first five games of the season.
Komet leaders after five-- Center Brett Smith leads with three goals.....right wing Bobby Chaumont leads with four assists.....Smith and Chaumont lead with five points each.....Chaumont and center Leo Thomas each have a team-best +1.....The Komets (5gp) are tied with Evansville (4gp) as the most penalized team in the CHL with a per-game average of 27.0 penalty minutes.
Komet of the week-- Brett Smith (3gp, 1g, 2a, +2) skated his 400th pro game Friday vs. Rapid City and posted a point in each game of the week for a four-game point-scoring streak (3g, 2a).
GAMES THIS WEEK
Komets on the road starting at Dayton Tuesday -- The Komets have three games this week, all on the road. The tripping begins Tuesday with a 6:30pm (time is correct) start at Dayton. It's the first of 14 meetings this season and the first of seven trips to Hara Arena. The Gems (2-1-2, 6pts) completed last week with two wins over Quad City Friday and Saturday and lead the Komets (2-3-0, 4pts) by two points in the Turner Conference. Tuesday's game will be Dayton's second home tilt of the season after attracting 3,611 for their opening night win over Quad City Saturday.
The Komets remain on the road for a pair at Rapid City Friday and Saturday-- The Komets will skate their first of two two-game visits to Rapid City this weekend. Each game this Friday and Saturday begins at 8:05pm ET at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena (5,119). After dropping a 3-2 contest at Fort Wayne Friday, the Rush doubled-up the Blaze at Bloomington Saturday night 4-2 to complete the week with a 4-1-1 record for nine points and second-place in the Turner Conference. Rapid City visits Tulsa Tuesday and Wichita Wednesday before hosting the Komets Friday.
Next at home-- The Komets will continue on the road next week at Evansville Thursday, Nov. 17 before returning to the Memorial Coliseum to host Dayton Friday, Nov. 18 at 8pm and Quad City Saturday, Nov. 19 at 7:30pm.
INC Soundoff with the Komets Monday nights -- The Komets, along with Indiana's News Center and title sponsor PHP, present a live weekly televised sports program on Monday nights at 7:30 on WPTA TV 21 Alive. The show is televised live from Wrigley Field Bar and Grill each week throughout the 2011-12 season with INC's Tommy Schoegler as host. Komet players and personnel will serve as co-hosts during the half-hour program. The show will also feature highlights, interviews, call-ins and special segments. Tonight, Nov. 7, veterans Colin Chaulk and Leo Thomas will be special guests.
60th Anniversary Komet Hockey on WOWO -- The Komets and WOWO Radio News-Talk 1190 AM have partnered once again for 2011-12. Broadcaster Bob Chase will call the action for his 59th consecutive season radio-rinkside. All games broadcast on radio, home and away, can be heard online at Xfinity KometCast. Most games will be broadcast on WOWO Radio News-Talk 1190 AM with ESPN Radio AM 1380 as an alternative when scheduling conflicts occur.
