Quad City Mallards News Release
QUACK TRACKS
Three-in-Three
The Mallards yesterday bounced back from consecutive losses to Dayton to beat Fort Wayne 3-2 in what was the Flock's third game in three evenings.
Home and Away The Mallards have won three of their first four road games but have dropped their first two home games. The Mallards won yesterday in Fort Wayne after suffering their first road loss the night before in Dayton. Last Friday's home loss to the Gems came on the heels of a season-opening 5-1 loss to Rapid City at the i wireless Center on October 22.
Little Big Man
Brandon Marino (4-6-10) matched a career high by collecting four points- one goal and three assists- in the Mallards' loss last Friday to Dayton. Marino added a pair of assists yesterday at Fort Wayne to finish the weekend with six points in three games. Marino has totaled nine points- three goals and six points- in his last four games. Marino leads the Mallards in assists and points and is tied for the team lead in goals. He is tied for third in the league in goals and points and is tied for fourth in assists. The second of Marino's four points last Friday- an assist on a Bobby Preece goal- was the one hundredth point of his career.
Six for Six
Jared Brown (3-3-6), Eric Giosa (4-2-6) and John Snowden (4-2-6) have all collected six points in their first six games. Giosa and Snowden are among the group of players tied for third in the league in goal-scoring. Brown scored the game winning goal yesterday evening at Fort Wayne. Snowden scored twice- his second two-goal game of the season- last night.
Iron Man
The Mallards' Obi Aduba has played 148 straight CHL and International Hockey League games since joining the Mallards two seasons ago. Should he play in both of this weekend's games, Aduba will reach 150 consecutive games played when he hits the ice for the Mallards' tilt Saturday night in Tulsa.
Shooting Gallery
The Mallards lead the league in shots on goal (44.2 per game). Quad City has outshot the opposition in each of its first six games and has taken at least 40 shots in five straight games.
Special Teams
The Mallards scored on their last two power plays last night after producing just a pair of goals on their first 16 man advantages of the weekend. Quad City killed off all four of Fort Wayne's power plays yesterday after allowing five Dayton goals on 12 Gems man advantages over the prior two evenings.
Firsts Goaltender David McKee picked up his first assist as a Mallard last Saturday at Dayton. Karl Linden recorded his first professional point- an assist on Jared Brown's game winning goal- yesterday evening at Fort Wayne.
Very Berry
The Mallards this weekend will play back-to-back games against the top two teams in the Berry Conference after meeting Turner Conference foes in their first six games.
On the Road Again
The Mallards this weekend conclude a stretch that will have seen them play four straight and six of seven games on the road.
Ins and Outs
Justin Chwedoruk missed yesterday's game after suffering a concussion last Saturday night at Dayton.
Head-to-Head
The Thunder swept four games from the Mallards last season, while Tulsa went 2-0-0 against Quad City last year. Wichita netminder Adam Russo, who tended goal for the Mallards last season, could well take on the Flock for the first time as a member of the Thunder on Friday night. Tulsa winger Patrik Levesque, who played a season-plus for the Mallards before being traded to Mississippi early last season, returned to the Oiler lineup from injured reserve last Saturday night against Rio Grande Valley.
