NYCFC was relatively quiet with acquisitions during the offseason. The Bronx side made Keaton Parks' loan permanent from Benfica after a solid season in 2019. The other notable moves were acquiring Gedion Zelalem, Gudmundur Thorarinsson and Nicolas Acevedo. Zelalem and Thorarinsson debuted for NYCFC in the Group A opener against Philly.

The recent headline move was the unexpected loan of Alexandru Mitrita to Al-Ahli.
