The boys are back to work on Wednesday at Exploria Stadium after having the weekend off due to a postponed match. The Lions will be hosting NYCFC with kickoff set for 7:30 pm ET. Here is what you need to know about City's opponents:

Key Transactions and Player News

NYCFC was relatively quiet with acquisitions during the offseason. The Bronx side made Keaton Parks' loan permanent from Benfica after a solid season in 2019. The other notable moves were acquiring Gedion Zelalem, Gudmundur Thorarinsson and Nicolas Acevedo. Zelalem and Thorarinsson debuted for NYCFC in the Group A opener against Philly.

The recent headline move was the unexpected loan of Alexandru Mitrita to Al-Ahli.

Injury Report: Gedion Zelalem (knee injury), Tayvon Gray (not medically cleared), Maxi Moralez (knee injury 9/12, out 4-6 weeks) and Heber (torn ACL 9/23, out for season) are all listed as out on the MLS Injury Report.

Team Form

NYCFC is 3-2-0 in their last five matches and currently sit 5th in the Eastern Conference standings four points behind City. Their most recent match was a 2-1 loss to New England at home on Sunday.


The Lions were 1-0-2 against New York City in 2019 and have won the only meeting this season that came back in July during the MLS is Back Tournament Group Stage.
