Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Center fielder Adam Haseley had four hits on Sunday. His last one of the day led the Knights to a come-from-behind victory.
Haseley launched a walk-off, three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Charlotte Knights past the Nashville Sounds by a score of 10-8 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of the six-game series from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. With the win, the Knights earned a series split with the Sounds, 3-3.
It was a memorable afternoon for Haseley, who went 4-for-4 with two runs scored, two walks, the game-winning home run and four RBI. The impressive game bumped up his batting average to .310 on the season with the Knights and it helped the Knights finish off a memorable homestand.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Knights trailed by a score of 8-7. Nashville RHP Thyago Vieira (1-1, 1.93) came on to close the game out, but had his troubles. Despite retiring the first two batters of the inning, the Knights battled against Vieira. Left fielder Stephen Piscotty and second baseman Laz Rivera each recorded two-out singles to give the Knights a chance for a comeback win. That's exactly what happened.
On the first pitch of the at-bat to Haseley, the Charlotte outfielder ripped a three-run home run over the right field wall to give the Knights the win. In all, the Knights tallied 13 hits on the afternoon. Piscotty also homered on the day, a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning. Piscotty and Rivera had three hits apiece for the Knights.
RHP Alex Colomé (4-0, 1.08) earned the win out of the Charlotte bullpen after he tossed 1.1 scoreless innings. He fanned two batters and allowed just one hit.
The Knights will now have an off day on Monday before heading to Lawrenceville, Georgia to open a six-game road series against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves). The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 7:05 p.m. from Coolray Field.
