Charlotte Knights News Release

(LOUISVILLE, KY) - The Charlotte Knights rallied in the ninth inning, but fell just short in game three of the six-game series against the Louisville Bats by a score of 6-2 on Thursday night from Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, KY. With two on and no outs thanks to back-to-back singles to begin the ninth inning, Louisville reliever Alan Busenitz battled back to keep the Knights at bay. Busenitz retired the next three batters in order to shut the door on Thursday's game.

The Bats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning off Charlotte RHP J.B. Olson (1-1, 8.31), who started the game on Thursday. Olson was charged with the loss after he allowed three runs on four hits over two innings. The start was his first of the season and seventh overall appearance with the Knights this year.

Down by a score of 3-0, the Knights fought back in the top of the third inning and cut the lead down to one run thanks to an RBI single from Yolbert Sánchez and a sacrifice-fly RBI from Evan Skoug. That was all the scoring for the Knights in Thursday's contest.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Bats tacked on to the lead with two runs off Charlotte reliever Lincoln Henzman. The Bats added a sixth and final run of the night in the bottom of the seventh inning courtesy of a home run off the bat of Matt McLain. The home run, which came off Charlotte reliever Frank German, was the fifth of the season for McLain.

Offensively, infielder Zach Remillard and outfielder Víctor Reyes continued their hot hitting for the Knights. Remillard went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in the game. Reyes went 2-for-3 with a walk.

The Knights will continue the six-game series on Friday night with game four of the series against the Louisville Bats (Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) from Louisville Slugger Field. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. on Friday night.
