Richmond, VA - The Charlotte Knights beat the Richmond Braves 10-7 Monday at The Diamond in 10 innings. The Knights erupted for three runs in the 10th to send the Braves down to their fourth straight loss.
Charlotte took a 3-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Ryan Sweeney, Tomas Perez, and Casey Rogowski. The Braves scored a run in the second on a Wes Timmons RBI single. Richmond tied the game in the fourth on a two-run single by Barbaro Canizares. The Braves moved in front in the fifth on an RBI single by Brent Lillibridge. The Knights Casey Rogowski smashed a home run in the sixth to tie the game at four. The Braves re-gained the lead in the home half on run-scoring singles by Iker Franco and Gregor Blanco. The Braves opened up a 7-4 lead in the seventh on an RBI single by Barbaro Canizares. Charlotte responded with a three run eighth to tie the game at seven. Ernie Young knocked in a run with a bases-loaded walk and Thomas Collaro chased two runs home with a single. In the 10th a throwing error on a bunt allowed Rogowski to score the go-ahead run. Alex Sanchez capped the scoring with a two-run homer.
Carlos Vasquez picked up the win. David Aardsma notched a save. Ryan Basner took the loss. Rogowski had four of Charlotte's 16 hits. Brayan Pena had three of the Braves 16 hits.
