LOUISVILLE, KY- A two-run seventh inning was enough for Louisville to hold on, as they defeated Toledo Monday night in front of 8,209 at Louisville Slugger Field.

Bats catcher Ryan Hanigan started the offensive spark in the seventh by lacing a single to left field. Hanigan advanced to second on an Anderson Machado sacrifice bunt and subsequently scored on a Chris Dickerson double. Joey Votto singled Dickerson home to give the Bats the lead, 3-2.

Louisville struggled at the plate for the majority of the game, mustering one hit before the seventh.

Centerfielder Jay Bruce led the Bats, going 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Bats reliever Jon Coutlangus secured the win, going two and a third innings, striking out four while walking one. Louisville closer Ricky Stone pitched a perfect ninth, locking up his 14th save of the season.

Mud Hens starter Jordan Tata picked up the loss, despite pitching six innings of one-hit baseball. Tata ended his night allowing three runs, on four hits while striking out six. He walked five in six and two-thirds innings.

Mud Hens shortstop Omar Infante and right fielder Brent Clevlen led Toledo in hitting with two hits apiece.

The Bats will conclude their two-game set with the Mud Hens tomorrow night. LHP Mat Maloney (0-1, 3.00) of Louisville and RHP Ron Chiavacci (12-6, 3.39) of Toledo are the probable starters. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
