
Indians Announce 2008 Game Schedule

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Indians will open their 2008 regular-season schedule with an eight-game road trip at Pawtucket and Syracuse. The Tribe will square off with the Red Sox in a four-game series (April 3-6) before facing the Chiefs in a four-game set (April 7-10).
The home opener at Victory Field is slated for Friday, April 11. The first homestand includes four games against Norfolk (April 11-14) and four contests vs. Pawtucket (April 15-18).
The Indians are scheduled to play 144 regular-season contests in 152 days between April 3 and Sept. 1. The 72-game home slate includes 14 tilts in April, 12 in May, 16 in June, 17 in July and 13 in August.
The Tribe is scheduled to host Louisville in the annual 4th of July game at Victory Field. A sellout crowd of 14,931 gathered for the 2007 Independence Day special.
The three-day All-Star Break will take place July 14-16. The 2008 mid-season classic will be played at Louisville Slugger Field, just two hours south of Indianapolis.
Thirteen of the International League's 14 clubs will remain the same, but the Philadelphia Phillies will be moving their Triple-A affiliate from Ottawa to Allentown, Pa. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will make their first stop at Victory Field June 3-6.
The league has also re-formatted its schedule for 2008. Indianapolis will pick up 16 games against West Division opponents and drop 16 contests vs. South Division foes. The Indians will now play 21 games against Columbus (10 home/11 road), 21 vs. Toledo (11 home/10 road) and 22 against Louisville (11 home/11 road).
The Tribe will battle Buffalo, Lehigh Valley, Pawtucket, Rochester, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Syracuse, Charlotte, Durham, Norfolk and Richmond eight times each (4 home/4 road) in 2008.
