
Knights Drop Friday's Game to Stripers 9-2

(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA) -- The Charlotte Knights scored two runs and recorded 10 hits in a 9-2 loss to the Gwinnett Stripers on Friday night in game four of a six-game series from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA. The loss was Charlotte's fourth in the series.
The Stripers struck first in Friday's game and did so in the bottom of the first inning. Braden Shewmake singled home the game's first two runs and former Knights infielder Yolmer Sánchez drove home two more with a home run. The home run was his second of the season and it gave the Stripers an early 4-0 lead.
LHP John Parke (1-2, 7.45) started the game and was charged with the loss after he gave up five runs (four earned) over just two innings. The Stripers scored eight runs over the first three innings of the game, adding three in the bottom of the third frame off LHP Sammy Peralta.
Offensively for the Knights, the team scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning thanks to RBI singles from Laz Rivera and Adam Haseley. Additionally, Oscar Colás, Yolbert Sánchez and Carlos Pérez chipped in with two hits apiece for the Knights in the loss.
Gwinnett starter Dylan Dodd (2-4, 7.07) earned the win with 5.2 strong innings.
The Knights will continue the six-game road series against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) on Saturday evening.
