Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Right fielder Mason Robbins drove home two runs to help pace the Charlotte Knights to a 4-2 win over the Durham Bulls on July 4th at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The game was played in front of 10,831 fans -- the largest crowd in BB&T Ballpark history.
LHP Jordan Guerrero was sharp for the Knights over five innings, but did not factor in the decision. Guerrero, 24, allowed just one run on five hits. He walked two batters and struck-out two. Charlotte's bullpen was stellar on the evening, allowing just one more run over the final four innings. RHP Jeanmar GÃÅmez (5-0, 2.09) earned the win, while RHP Ian Hamilton notched his third save of the season.
The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to an RBI single from Robbins. The Knights had a 1-0 lead at that point, but the Bulls rallied in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game thanks to an RBI single from former Charlotte outfielder, Jason Coats.
The Charlotte offense took over in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored three runs to take a commanding 4-1 lead at that point. Designated hitter Seby Zavala had an RBI double in the inning, while Robbins drove home one more run in the frame. Catcher Dustin Garneau added an RBI single in the inning.
The Knights have now won five of their last eight games against the Bulls.
