Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - With the 2018 season in its final month, the Charlotte Knights are pleased to reveal their 2019 season schedule with home game times. Additionally, early-bird schedule cards for the 2019 season will be distributed to fans at BB&T Ballpark during each of the final ten home dates of this season starting tomorrow (Thursday, Aug. 16).
The Knights will open their sixth campaign at BB&T Ballpark -- the most visited venue in Minor League Baseball -- against the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) on Thursday, April 4th at 7:04 p.m. During the team's opening seven-game homestand, Charlotte will welcome the Bulls (April 4-7) and the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) from April 8-10.
The club's annual Education Day game, presented by Duke Energy, will take place at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1st against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves). The Knights will host their International League South Division foes, Durham (14 times), Norfolk (10 times), and Gwinnett (12 times), a total of 36 times in 2019.
The 2019 season features a full schedule of prime home dates, including eleven Fridays, eleven Saturdays, and eleven Sundays. Once again, fans can expect Monday through Saturday games to start at 7:04 p.m. to continue the team's salute to Charlotte's 704 area code. Most Sunday games in April, May, and June will begin at 2:05 p.m. with two exceptions. The May 26th game will feature a 7:04 p.m. start on the night before Memorial Day. Additionally, the June 23rd game will feature a 5:05 p.m. first pitch. In July and August, all Sunday home games will start at 5:05 p.m., except for the contest on July 7th , which is the day before the Triple-A All-Star Break, and is slated to start at 2:05 p.m.
Back by popular demand, Friday Night Fireworks, presented by BB&T and News Talk 1110 WBT, will return for all eleven Friday home games in 2019. The Knights will also light up the Uptown Charlotte skyline on Sunday, May 26th and once again on Thursday, July 4th.
New for the 2019 season, the Knights will face the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, the Syracuse Chiefs, who will make the trek to BB&T Ballpark for a three-game series from June 18-20. The Chiefs were the top affiliate of the Washington Nationals from 2009-2018. The Knights will also host the Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) from July 26-28 and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees) from August 13-15.
Season memberships for 2019 as well as single-game tickets for the final twelve home games of the 2018 season are on sale now and can be purchased in person at the BB&T Ballpark Ticket Office, online at CharlotteKnights.com, or by phone at 704-274-8282.
