LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Louisville Bats (52-67) dropped Wednesday night's series finale by a 4-3 score to the Gwinnett Stripers (58-61), with Gwinnett finishing off the sweep of Louisville at Coolray Field for the second straight season.

The story all night was Gwinnett starting pitcher Bryse Wilson (3-0, 4.50), who set a franchise record with 13 strikeouts. The right-hander stymied Bats hitters all night, facing the minimum 24 batters in 8.0 innings of work, allowing just one hit, walking none with the record-setting 13 strikeouts on 98 pitches (72 strikes).

Louisville's only hit off Wilson on the night came in the form of Blake Trahan's line drive single in the top of the fourth, which was erased on a Gabriel Guerrero groundout double play.

On the Bats' side, right-hander Lucas Sims (4-4, 2.92) was tagged with his first loss in a Louisville uniform in his third start since coming over to the Cincinnati Reds organization from the Atlanta Braves in a July 30 trade. Sims, who was facing his former team in Gwinnett, went 5.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on three hits, walking one and striking out six on 92 pitches (66 strikes).

The Bats' offense was virtually silent through eight innings, until they made it interesting in the final inning. Nick Longhi came through with a pinch-hit single, before Brian O'Grady smacked an RBI double to put the Bats on the board and avoid being shut out for the third time in their last four games. Blake Trahan followed up O'Grady's knock with an RBI single to make it a 4-2 game. Steve Selsky kept the line moving with a two-out RBI single to make it a one-run game, 4-3. All of the damage in the ninth inning came against Gwinnett reliever Chase Whitley. D.J. Peterson was put away on a nice play by Gwinnett second baseman Phil Gosselin on a 4-3 putout to end the ballgame.

The Bats look to snap their current five-game losing streak tomorrow night at BB&T Ballpark against the Charlotte Knights, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Right-hander Michael Kopech (6-7, 3.81) is set to go for Charlotte, while Louisville is yet to announce a starting pitcher. First pitch is set for 7:04 p.m.
