Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
LINCOLN - The Gary SouthShore RailCats capitalized on some sloppy Saltdogs defense as they defeated Lincoln 9-6 at Haymarket Park Tuesday night.
After the Saltdogs took their first lead since the first inning Friday night, the RailCats responded with two in the fifth and four in the sixth - with two errors committed - to take a 7-3 lead.
Gavin Dickey delivered a clutch two-out, three-run triple to center field to pull âDogs within a run but that would be as close as they would get.
Scott Shaw (5-3) pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing five earned on six hits to earn the win. Steve Junker (0-1) went 1 1/3 innings, allowing four earned on four hits to suffer the loss. Will Krout tossed a hitless ninth to notch his first save.
Dickey's seventh-inning triple extended his hit streak to 15 games.
The RailCats' lead-off hitter Adam Klein went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and an RBI.
The teams meet again Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. for game three of the four-game series. Alex Maestri (2-5, 6.10) is expected to take the hill for the âDogs against Jack Frawley (2-3, 5.66) for Gary SouthShore. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
