Kings and Monarchs Announce Multiple Transactions

MANCHESTER, NH – The Los Angeles Kings, the NHL affiliate of the Manchester Monarchs, have announced the following player transactions: center Derek Armstrong and defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky have been activated from the injured reserve list and are expected to play tonight as the Kings host the Dallas Stars at STAPLES Center; center Michael Cammalleri and defenseman Bryan Muir have been assigned to the Monarchs; goaltender Milan Hnilicka has been placed on the injured reserve list; and goaltender Mathieu Chouinard (emergency basis) has been recalled from the Monarchs. The Monarchs also today announced that goaltender Terry Denike has been recalled from the Reading Royals of the ECHL. Armstrong, 30, suffered a broken finger in the final seconds of the Kings-St. Louis Blues contest at STAPLES Center on November 15. The 6-foot-0, 195-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario, appeared in the team's first 16 games, recording 10 points (6-4=10) and four penalty minutes before the injury. He has appeared in 168 career NHL regular season games with the Kings, New York Rangers, the Ottawa Senators and the New York Islanders, recording 67 points (27-40=67) and 90 penalty minutes.

Visnovsky, 27, has missed the last six games with a concussion after suffering the injury on December 18 during the Kings-Phoenix Coyotes game at STAPLES Center. The 5-foot-10, 188-pound Visnovsky leads all Kings defensemen in scoring with 20 points (6-14=20). He also leads all Kings in ice time, playing an average of 24:05 a game, and he is second on the team with a plus-11 rating. The native of Topolcany, Slovakia, has appeared in 185 career NHL regular season games, all with the Kings, recording 80 points (17-63=80) and 66 penalty minutes.

Cammalleri, 21, has appeared in 24 games for the Kings this season, recording 13 points (8-5=13) and 12 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, has also appeared in five games for the Monarchs this season, registering five points (4-1=5) and two penalty minutes. Cammalleri has appeared in 44 career regular season NHL games, all with the Kings, and has 21 points (13-8=21) and 34 penalty minutes. He also has appeared in 18 career AHL regular season games with the Monarchs, registering 25 points (9-16=25) and 14 penalty minutes.

Muir, 30, has appeared in two games for the Kings this season, his first with the club, recording an assist (0-1=1) and two penalty minutes. In 30 games for the Monarchs this season, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, has 24 points (6-18=24) and 49 penalty minutes. Muir has appeared in 181 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, the Colorado Avalanche, the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Chicago Blackhawks, the New Jersey Devils and the Edmonton Oilers, recording 20 points (5-15=20) and 167 penalty minutes. Hnilicka, 30, has appeared in two games for the Kings this season, posting a 0-1-0 record, a 3.75 goals-against-average and a .881 save-percentage. Hnilicka, who yesterday broke a finger during practice, began the season with the Monarchs and has appeared in 10 games this season with the Monarchs, posting a 4-6-0 record, a 2.84 goals-against-average and a .895 save-percentage. In 121 career NHL regular season games with the Kings, the Atlanta Thrashers and the Rangers, Hnilicka, a 6-foot-1, 190-pounder from Litomerice, Czech Republic, has a 29-67-13 record and a 3.31 goals-against-average.

Chouinard, 23, has appeared in 11 games for the Monarchs this season and has a 4-3-0 record, a 2.71 goals-against-average and a .897 save-percentage. The 6-foot-1, 211-pound native of Boisbriand, Quebec, was signed as a free agent by the Kings on July 7, 2003. He has not appeared in an NHL game and wears No. 46.

Denike, 22, has appeared in three games for the Royals this season and has a 1-1-0 record, a 3.89 goals-against-average and a .894 save percentage. Selected by the Kings in the fifth-round (152nd overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Denike also has appeared in two games for the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario, has a 1-1-0 record, a 2.42 goals-against-average and a .905 save-percentage in the two appearances.

The Kings (16-13-5-4) host the Dallas Stars tonight at STAPLES Center at 10:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net, ESPN Radio 710 - KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network. Tonight's coverage on Fox begins at 7 p.m. with "Break the Ice." Center Esa Pirnes will be tonight's live in-studio guest.

The Monarchs, in the middle of a four-game homestand, return to action on Sunday, January 4 when they host the Lowell Lock Monsters at 4:05 p.m. Only single seats remain for Sunday's game, as the Monarchs will honor area youth with their Student Achievers Program. Over 800 kids are expected to attend Sunday's game as a reward for doing well in school.
