Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Battle Creek, MI - The Kenosha Kingfish came alive late to beat out the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 4-2 at MCCU Field.

With the win, Kenosha snapped a three-game losing streak dating back to a 5-4 walk-off loss to the Rockford Rivets on June 1.

Meanwhile, Battle Creek has now dropped six straight contests since defeating the Kokomo Jackrabbits 16-10 in an opening day scoring bonanza.

In a game with three lead changes, Tucker Zdunich (Reindhardt University) went 2-for-5, including a solo shot to dead center, as the most prominent offensive threat for the boys in baby blue.

Reagan Burford (Ole Miss) had a go-ahead bunt in the eighth to give the Kingfish a lead they wouldn't relinquish, and Vytas Valincius (University of Illinois) drove the nail into the coffin with an RBI double in the ninth.

Dave Alleva (West Chester) did it all at the plate for the Battle Jacks. He went 2-for-4 while driving in both runs as the only multi-hit batter on Battle Creek.

Georgia State's Aidan Mcevoy (1-0) got the win for Kenosha with 1.1 innings of shutout baseball. Ross Thompson (St. Ambrose) tallied his second quality start of the summer with six innings of two-run ball.

Western Illinois' Tre Benjamin (0-2) took the loss after allowing the go-ahead run in the eighth frame.

With the victory, the Kingfish (3-4) spring up to a tie for fourth place in the Great Lakes East with the Rockford Rivets.

After their sixth straight loss, the Battle Jacks (1-6) are now in last place by a two-game margin.

Both teams will finish off the series on June 5 with a first pitch time of 5:35 PM CST at MCCU Field.
