August 7, 2018 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
State College Spikes News Release

(STATE COLLEGE, Pa.) - State College Spikes fans will have three more chance to see the team in action at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park this week before All-Star festivities begin. The Spikes will take on the West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates) in a three-game set that includes a special appearance by Ki-Jana Carter, a bobblehead giveaway, FIREWORKS, the return of Ladies Night, and more special events.

The Wednesday to Friday series features a sneak peek at what is in store for the 2018 New York-Penn League All-Star Game presented by the Central PA Covention and Visitors Bureau as Carter will appear at the ballpark during Friday's 7:05 p.m. game to meet and greet fans and sign autographs.

Plus, the first 1,000 fans through the gates on Friday when they open to the public at 6 p.m. will receive a Ki-Jana Carter Bobblehead Giveaway, presented by The Nittany Lion Inn & The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel and ESPN Radio 1450. Carter, the number-one overall draft pick in 1995, will serve as one of the captains for the Celebrity Softball Game that is part of the All-Star extravaganza on August 14.

Friday's events will be capped off by a fantastic post-game FIREWORKS show to light up the skies over Happy Valley, presented by The Meadows, and it is Scout Night at the ballpark.

In addition, Friday will be Call 811 Night at the ballpark presented by PA One Call, serving as the last of three consecutive nights highlighting the importance of calling 811 before you dig in Pennsylvania.

"Working with the State College Spikes is a great opportunity to remind everyone it's the law to make the call", said Bill Kiger, President and Chief Executive Officer of PA One Call. "By dialing 8-1-1 at least three business days in advance of an excavation project, homeowners and professional excavators are making an important decision to Know What's Below. Dialing 8-1-1 helps keep themselves and their community safe."

The slate also includes the return of Paint the Park Purple Night and Ladies Night, presented by Home Instead Senior Care and Juniper Village at Brookline, at Thursday night's 7:05 p.m. game. Fans are invited to join the Spikes and the Alzheimer's Association in supporting the fight against Alzheimer's disease throughout the evening.

The first 1,000 fans of all ages will receive a Purple Reusable Tote Bag Giveaway on Thursday when gates open at 6:00 p.m., also presented by Home Instead Senior Care and Juniper Village at Brookline.

Ladies are invited to bring their gal pals for a night of fun at the ballpark as well, with a special Wine & Bunco Package available. For $45, ladies can purchase a ticket to a Spikes Luxury Suite with early entrance to the ballpark, VIP parking, coupons for two complimentary glasses of wine or draft beers, and a meal of either beef brisket and pork or Jersey's Mike's Subs. The package also includes the chance to play Bunco starting at 7:30 p.m. with fabulous prizes for big winners.

It's also a $1 Beer Thursday, presented by BIG Froggy 101, with 12-oz. domestic draft beers just $1 apiece from 6-8 p.m.

The homestand begins Wednesday with a Half-Craft Wednesday, presented by 93.7 THE BUS, and a Winner Wednesday, presented by the PA Lottery, on the final BB&T Books & Baseball Night of the year.

Tickets for all three games from Wednesday to Friday, as well as the 2018 New York-Penn League All-Star Game presented by the Central PA Convention & Visitors Bureau and every remaining game on the 2018 Spikes regular season home schedule, are currently on sale through the Spikes Ticket Office.

Fans can also purchase tickets for the 2018 NYPL All-Star Tailgate Gala presented by Reinhart Foodservice. The All-Star Tailgate Gala will present the chance to meet and greet local legends and NYPL All-Stars under the lights at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Monday, August 13.

The event will also take a Happy Valley specialty and kick it up a notch, with plenty of games, musical entertainment and delicious food, including several carving stations from Reinhart Foodservice serving up prime tailgating fare. Complimentary Coors Light will also available all night long, and attendees will have the chance to sample Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey in unique fashion at a dedicated location within the park.

Tickets for the once in a lifetime experience of the All-Star Tailgate Gala are available for $50 each at the Spikes Ticket Office.

To purchase tickets, fans can call (814) 272-1711 or visit the Ticket Office in person. Ticket Office hours are 9 a.m. to the end of the game on game days Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to the end of the game on game days Saturday and Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on non-game days Monday through Friday.
