Vermont Lake Monsters News Release

LOWELL, MA - The Vermont Lake Monsters led the Lowell Spinners 4-1 in the top of the fourth inning when their New York-Penn League game Tuesday night at LeLechuer Park was suspended by rain. The game is scheduled to resume when Vermont returns to Lowell on August 23rd.

The Lake Monsters jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four runs in the top of the first inning. Allfonso Rivas got the rally started with a one-out double and Jonah Bride reached on a fielding error before Jeremy Eierman knocked them both home with a two-run double to rightcenter.

Nick Osborne followed with a two-run homer to leftfield on a 1-1 pitch from Spinners starter Jose Gonzalez. The home run is the first professional homer for the recent Oakland free-agent signee out of Tennessee Tech, but will have to wait until August 23rd for it to become official.

The Spinners got a run back in the bottom of the first on a Tyler Dearden RBI double, but Vermont starter Adam Reuss allowed just the one run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts over his three innings of work.

When the game resumes on August 23rd before that night's originally scheduled contest, the Lake Monsters will have runners on first and second with two outs and leadoff batter Joseph Pena at the plate.

Vermont (25-25) continues the roadtrip with the first of a three-game series at Aberdeen on Wednesday night. After the series against the Ironbirds, the Lake Monsters will host Tri-City for a two-game series Saturday and Sunday.
