Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats took the rubber match of their series with the Connecticut Tigers at Dodd Stadium on Tuesday night, winning by a score of 5-2.

It was Oscar Campos' grand slam in the second inning that proved too much for the Tigers to handle.

The home run was just the second of Campos' five-year professional career and it was the ValleyCats' first grand slam of the season.

That 4-0 lead would be all that the ValleyCats needed, as they used lights-out pitching the rest of the night to hold Connecticut to just four hits,

Cody Deason started the game for Tri-City with two scoreless innings, before giving up the ValleyCats' only two runs in the third inning.

Austin Hansen ended up getting the win for Tri-City by pitching a scoreless fourth and fifth inning, striking out six out of seven batters that he faced.

R.J. Freure then took over, pitching three perfect innings to earn a hold, before J.P. France earned the second save of his professional career with a scoreless ninth.

Following their series win, the ValleyCats advance to 28-22 on the season, currently holding a two-game lead over the Lowell Spinners for first place in the Stedler Division standings.

Tri-City will return home on Wednesday to begin a three-game series with the Hudson Valley Renegades, with first pitch slated to happen at 7 p.m.

Coverage will begin on MiLB.tv and the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano approximately 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
