Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick RHP Pedro Beato was excellent through the first three frames. He found himself in trouble in the fourth. 2B Michael Fisher led things off with a single. He eventually came around to score on 1B Gerry Rodriguez's RBI-base knock, giving the Pelicans a 1-0 lead.

The Keys answered right back in the fourth. With two on and one out, C Caleb Joseph hit an RBI-double to tie the game at one. The next batter, 3B Tyler Henson then singled in a run to give Frederick the lead.

They weren't done. DH Wally Crancer lifted a sac fly to left, scoring Joseph. LF David Cash then knocked in Henson on an RBI-single. Eight batters in total came to the plate, as Frederick scored four times on four hits to take a 4-1 lead.

The Pelicans began to chip away in the sixth. With two on and one out, DH Ernesto Mejia hit an RBI-double. The next batter, 1B Gerry Rodriguez, then knocked in a run on a fielder's choice to pull the Pelicans to within one.

Crancer gave the Keys some breating room in their half of the sixth. With the bases empty and one down, Crancer cracked his fourth homerun of the season, giving Frederick a 5-4 lead.

The Keys brought RHP Brian Parker in to pitch the ninth. He made things interesting by surrendering a leadoff double to Rodriguez. He eventually was knocked in by SS Chad Lundahl's two-out RBI single. Parker was pulled in favor of LHP Ryan Rodriguez, who got the final out to pick up the save.

Beato got the win, improving to 5-5. The right-hander surrendered three runs, all earned, over 5.1 innings of work. LHP Cole Rohrbough got the loss. He dropped to 4-6. Rodriguez picked up his second save of the season.

The Kinston Indians come to town to open a four-game set with the Keys Monday night at Harry Grove Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. For ticket info, contact our box office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS.
