Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release

August 13, 2008 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels rallied from a 6-4 deficit to win the suspended game from July 7 by the score of 7-6. Gabe Jacobo was 1-2 with two runs scored and Andrew Romine and Hector Estrella each had an RBI.

The game-winning run scored on a Kane County error in the ninth with the bases loaded and no one out. Kernels reliever Naldy Calderon resumed where he left off on July 7 as he held Kane County to just two hits, walked three and struck out three over five scoreless innings in a no-decision effort.

Kane County reliever Leonardo Espinal (3-2) allowed an unearned run and walked one in taking the loss.

The Kernels and Cougars will play the scheduled game for August 13 at 6:30 pm as the game will be shortened to 7 innings due to the suspended game.
