Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics, have announced that catcher Juan Nunez has been reinstated from the disabled list and transferred to Short-A Vancouver of the Northwest League. Nunez' departure has no impact on the Cougars' active roster of 25 players, as the catcher had been on the disabled list since July 23 with a right thumb injury.

Nunez (FA, 2006), whom the Cougars received on June 27 from Vancouver, played in seven games for Kane County, most recently on July 14. As a Cougar, Nunez went 7-for 21 from the plate.

The Cougars (24-29) pulled off some late-inning heroics last night, using a game-winning walk off single from Justin Frash to bring home Jake Smith for an 8-7 win over Cedar Rapids. The teams conclude their three-game series Friday night at 6:30 CT when Anthony Capra (2-2, 4.33) faces Jose Perez (0-1, 9.00).
