Your Cedar Rapids Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium for a seven game home stand with games against Kane County and Peoria. Here's a preview of what you can expect these next six games:
April 28 - May 1 vs. Kane County
The Kernels open a seven game home stand with four games against the Kane County Cougars, the Midwest League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
The home stand kicks off with Dollar Monday on April 28th. Regular hot dogs, popcorn, chips, ice cream sandwiches and Cracker Jack are each $1 all game long. Plus, get $1 taquitos at the Hacienda Las Glorias / La Cantina Mexican cart during the game. Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Kane County is set for 6:35 pm.
Here's a great deal from the Kernels and Great Clips. It's Twins Tuesday, presented by Great Clips. Get a 2 for 1 ticket offer when fans bring the special Twins Tuesday coupon to the Kernels Ticket Office that can be found through the Kernels Facebook page and email newsletter. The Kernels will wear special jerseys every Tuesday home game and one lucky fan will win a pair of tickets to a Twins game. First pitch between the Kernels and Cougars is 6:35 pm and the gates open at 5:30 pm.
Who wants free money? You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Free Money Wednesday, presented by First Federal Credit Union. $500 will be given out by First Federal at the main gates with the top cash prize of $100 EVERY Wednesday home game. First pitch between the Kernels and Kane County is set for 6:35 pm.
Get here when the gates open at 5:30 pm for Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday where 12 oz. regular draft beer and 20 oz. bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game, plus get $1 off margaritas at the Hacienda Las Glorias / La Cantina Mexican Cart. College students - show your college ID and receive a club ticket and two slices of pizza for just $7 every Thursday home game on Little Caesar's College Night. First pitch between the Kernels and Cougars is set for 6:35 pm.
May 2-4 vs. Peoria
The Kernels continue a seven game home stand with three games against the Peoria Chiefs, the Midwest League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Friday, May 2nd as the first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a free Bruce Aune as The Anchorman bobblehead, sponsored by KCRG TV 9. The game will be broadcast LIVE on KCRG 9.2. It's a 98.1 KHAK Friday Mug Club. Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug of soda or regular draft beer for $6 and get refills at the concession stand for just $3. Bring your mug back to every Friday home game for the same refill special all season long. There will be the Iowa Games Torch Run during pregame and the Kernels are set to take on the Chiefs at 6:35 pm.
A big night is on tap for Saturday, May 3rd when the Kernels take on Peoria at 6:35 pm. First, the Kernels will wear special pink jerseys that will be sold during the game via a silent auction with the proceeds to benefit the Linn County Relay for Life as part of American Cancer Society Night. The McGrath Family of Dealership sponsors the pink jerseys. Next, it's our first post-game FIREWORKS show of the season - fireworks nights are VERY popular, so make sure to order your tickets in advance by calling the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560 or order on-line at www.kernels.com and beat the lines at the ticket window by printing your tickets at home. Gates open at 5:30 pm.
The home stand wraps up on Sunday, May 4th when the Kernels take on Peoria at 2:05 pm. It's a Planet X Run the Bases Sunday with a small change. Due to the post-game Chuck Fulton Home Run Derby for boys and girls age 12-under, fans won't be able to run the bases, but they can still play catch in the outfield and get autographs from the Kernels players on the field after the game. And speaking of the Chuck Fulton Home Run Derby, it's FREE to boys and girls ages 12-under. Pre-registration is advised, but fans can still sign up at the game that afternoon through the end of the 7th inning. During the game, play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see the Twins play. Enjoy Papa Balloon and Face Painting by Kennedy Wilson on the concourse during the game. Gates for this series finale between the Kernels and Chiefs open at 1:00 pm.
Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium Daily Specials!
Run the Bases Sunday, sponsored by Planet X: After every Sunday home game, kids (and adults) can run the bases, play catch on the field and get autographs from the Kernels, sponsored by Planet X with media sponsor 104.5 KDAT. During the game, play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo, co-sponsored by the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see a Twins game. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon on the concourse and face painting by Kennedy. Magician Jackson Green will entertain at Sunday home games, starting June 15th.

The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
