Montgomery, AL - It took 10 innings and two former Montgomery Biscuits on Monday night for the Mississippi Braves to beat Montgomery 2-1 at Riverwalk Stadium.

Victor Mateo (3-2), who pitched in Montgomery (27-30) in 2013 and 2014, allowed just a run on five hits over nine frames against his former teammates in the Braves (31-25) win.

With the game tied 1-1 in the 10th, KD Kang- another former Biscuit from 2011-2013- pinch hit with the bases loaded, hitting a sacrifice fly to center to plate Matt Kennelly and take a 2-1 lead.

Tyler Jones came on and picked up the save, his fifth, as the Braves kept pace in the South Division race, remaining 3 ½ games back with 12 games remaining.

Montgomery started the scoring in the first inning. Boog Powell singled and moved to second on a deep fly out to left field. Cameron Seitzer grounded out to move Powell to third, and Johnny Field hit a line drive RBI single for a 1-0 lead.

The Braves were held in check by Jaime Schultz over seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and three walks, striking out nine.

Ryan Garton came on in relief in the eighth, allowing a double to Eric Garcia and a walk to Mallex Smith, putting men at the corners with a wild pitch for the final ball to Smith. With David Rohm at the plate, new pitcher Parker Markel threw a wild pitch to plate Garcia for the tying run, 1-1.

In the 10th, Mississippi loaded the bases off reliever Colton Reavis (0-3). Kennelly drew a one out walk, and Garcia hit his second double of the game. Reavis intentionally walked Smith to get to Kang, whose sac fly was the difference.

The Braves and Biscuits battle in the fourth of five games on Tuesday night at 7:05 PM CT, with right-hander Tyrell Jenkins (4-2, 2.86) taking the hill against left-hander Blake Snell (3-1, 1.48) in a battle of top prospects.
