Swift Current Broncos News Release
MOOSE JAW, SK - Jaxan Kaluski's hat trick led theSwift Current Broncos (10-32-1-3) attack in a 6-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors (12-29-2-0) Saturday night.
Kaluski's first of the game came on an odd man rush as D-Jay Jerome centred for the Broncos captain who tapped the puck into an open net just 2:39 into the game.
Kaluski would pick up his second off a tip from Sam McGinley's point shot on the power play, pushing the Broncos lead to 2-0 9:52 into the period.
Less than three minutes later, Jerome hit the highlight reel as he toe dragged around a defender before sliding to the front of the net and beating Boston Bilous on the blocker side to make it 3-0.
The three-goal lead stood until late in the second when Martin Lang's spinning shot from the slot deflected off a Bronco and past Isaac Poulter to make it 3-1 after two period.
Poulter made a huge stop on a two on one rush early in period three, diving to his right and getting the blocker on the cross-crease pass to keep the lead at 3-1.
The play proved to be even bigger as Eric Houk would steal the puck at the Warriors blue line and score on a shorthanded breakaway to make it 4-1.
Just 18 seconds later Ryder Korczak cut the Broncos lead to 4-2 with a shot from the right circle.
Swift Current would regain their three-goal lead after Houk picked up the puck behind the Moose Jaw net and centred for Sergei Alkhimov to pick up his fifth of the season.
Kaluski completed his hat trick with another deflection on the power play before the Warriors scored in the final minute to make the final score 6-3.
The Broncos are back in action Tuesday night in Medicine Hat.
