Hitmen Take Third Straight, Sweep Rebels

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen completed a home-and-home sweep of Red Deer with a 5-2 victory over the Rebels on Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Riley Stotts led the way with a goal and an assist. The 19-year-old now has nine points (7g, 2a) in four games against the Rebels this season.

Dakota Krebs, Riley Fiddler-Schultz, Orca Wiesblatt and Josh Prokop also scored for the home side with Mark Kastelic and Jett Woo both providing two assists.

After a scoreless first period, Calgary netted a pair of goals in the opening minutes of both the second and third periods to take control and never looked back.

Zak Smith and Jayden Grubbe tallied the Red Deer markers while both teams went 0-2 on the power play.

The Hitmen outshot Red Deer 30-25 to improve to 3-0-1 against their Central Division rivals. Rookie goaltender Brayden Peters made 23 saves in the Hitmen net to pick up the win while Byron Fancy and Ethan Anders combined to make 25 stops for the Rebels.

Calgary, 25-15-4-1, is back in the 'Dome on Wednesday, Jan. 29 for a 7:00 p.m. start against the Winnipeg ICE. It's Obscure Jersey Night were fans are asked to wear their most obscure jersey for the chance to win a number of great prizes;

Wednesday against the ICE is also RE/MAX Chuck-A-Puck where four lucky participants will win a hot air balloon ride courtesy of RE/MAX. Calgary will then welcome Brandon (Jan. 31), Red Deer (Feb. 1) and Prince Albert (Feb. 7) before a two-game road trip.
