
Kalish Strong in 3-2 Defeat to Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN - Jake Kalish turned in another strong performance, but the Storm Chasers fell a run short, dropping a 3-2 decision to Memphis on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
Memphis moved in front with a 3-run frame in the bottom of the 2nd. Patrick Wisdom and Carson Kelly singled, Oscar Mercado doubled in Wisdom, and Alex Mejia singled home Kelly and Mercado for a 3-0 Redbirds lead.
Omaha reduced the margin in the top of the 5th. Paulo Orlando singled, Humberto Arteaga walked, and Donnie DeWees and Billy Burns notched RBI singles, making it 3-2.
Chris Ellis (W, 2-0) went 6 innings for Memphis, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Kalish (L, 3-3) gave Omaha every chance to win, holding the Redbirds to 3 runs while scattering 9 hits. He struck out 5 and walked none.
But the Chasers couldn't overcome the early deficit, as Conner Greene, Tommy Layne, and Edward Mujica (S, 8) held Omaha scoreless over the final innings.
The Storm Chasers (40-47) will conclude the series in Memphis tomorrow afternoon at 2:05. Omaha will send RHP Glenn Sparkman (4-1, 4.58) to the mound , while the Redbirds will counter with RHP Dakota Hudson (12-2, 2.33).
