NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville scored two on three hits in the first inning after a one hour and 11 minute rain delay and the Iowa Cubs (31-55) never recovered as the Sounds (40-45) secured a 4-1 victory, Friday at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville would double its lead to 4-0 on an Anthony Garcia homer in the fifth before the I-Cubs could strike back. The I-Cubs waited until the seventh to break the shutout. Ryan Court led off with a single and sped to third with an error on the next play. A deep fly out to left from Trey Martin pushed in Court for Iowa's only scoring of the game.

Taylor Davis singled in the first and it would stand as Iowa's only hit until the fifth. Jason Vosler knocked a single to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, tying Efren Navarro for the longest streak for an I-Cub in 2018.

Duane Underwood Jr. (3-9) was tagged with his fifth-consecutive loss, allowing four earned runs on five hits. He walked a career-high five while fanning five as well.

Iowa's relief effort was strong as Craig Brooks, Dillon Maples and James Norwood each spun a hitless inning. Maples, in his first outing with Iowa since getting optioned, walked the bases loaded with one out in the seventh but was able to fight back with two strikeouts to get out of the frame unscathed.

The I-Cubs' offense was limited to four hits, one walk and took two free bases on hit batters. It was the ninth time this season Iowa has tallied four or fewer hits in a game.

The series continues with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch tomorrow at First Tennessee Park. Tune in to AM 940, www.iowacubs.com or MiLB.tv to follow the action.
