Kaddoura Brings Edge to Backend and Personality to Locker Room

Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

Majid Kaddoura didn't know what to expect coming to Moose Jaw early in the season, but the 20-year-old defenceman found a home with the Warriors.

"I was pretty nervous, especially being a 20-year-old, but the guys and the coaching staff welcomed me in really well and having a successful year really helped me out," Kaddoura said.

Kaddoura was acquired by the Warriors just a few games into the regular season and he made an impact.

The Chestermere, AB product put together the best season of his career in the Western Hockey League and grew into a steady defenceman for the Warriors.

"I grew a lot," Kaddoura said. "We've got a great coaching staff here and great players that you can build off of and take some tips from them, so I grew a lot as a player and I'm excited moving forward."

In 62 games with the Warriors, Kaddoura posted a career-high six goals and 24 points, while also posting a plus-12 rating.

Warriors captain Daemon Hunt said Kaddoura played a huge role with the team this season.

"Maj stepped in and he took a big role and he got better as the year went on," Hunt said. "He's a great guy and a great player."

While he played an important role on the ice for Moose Jaw, Kaddoura also was a key part of the Warriors' chemistry in the locker room.

"He's just a great room guy, easy to talk to," Warriors forward Ryder Korczak said.

"I've talked a lot about how tight knit everybody was and a lot of that has to do with our 20-year-olds and their impact," Head Coach Mark O'Leary said.

Kaddoura said he was proud to be a part of this team.

"We battled all year, we were a really resilient group, we never quit and that was our main thing," he said.

After losing to the Winnipeg ICE in five games last week, Kaddoura said his message to the team was to remember the feeling.

"You don't have very many shots at it, come back next year stronger and just every second of your career because it goes by quick," he said.

Kaddoura finishes his career with 14 goals and 49 points in 187 games with the Warriors, Prince George Cougars and Saskatoon Blades.

He said his career flew by.

"It's been a huge part of my life for the past four or five years and just seeing it come to an end obviously sucks, but I'm excited to move on to the next chapter of my life," Kaddoura said.

Kaddoura plans on taking the next few weeks to reflect on his season and decide what his next step is in his hockey career.
