Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - On Wednesday, the Regina Pats made a pair of selections in the third annual U.S. Priority Draft, adding to defencemen to their organization.
With their first pick, 3rd overall, Regina selected 2007-born defenceman Dylan Lebret. With their second pick, 42nd overall, the Pats selected Stephen Grumley.
Lebret, 15, spent this past season with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings 14-U AAA team, where he tallied 27 points (9G-18A) in 57 games. The Spokane, WA native is a 6-foot-1, 160 lb. right-shot defenceman and produced 25 points (6G-19A) in 35 games last year with the 13-U Jr. Kings.
"Dylan is a calm and smart defenceman with a great breakout pass, and the ability to create offence and score goals," Regina Pats California Scout Tommy Tartaglione said. "He is also someone who can quarterback the power play, but most importantly, he is very good in the defensive zone."
Grumley, 15, played alongside Lebret this season with the 14-U AAA Jr. Kings, producing 35 points (8G-27A) in 60 games. The Manhattan Beach, CA native is a 5-foot-7, 150 lb. defenceman who tallied 12 points (6G-6A) in 17 contests last year with the 13-U Jr. Kings.
"Stevie is a really smooth skating puck-moving defenceman with hockey IQ that is through the roof," added Tartaglione. "He's always in the right position and is never afraid of joining the rush. His crisp breakout passes help transition the defensive zone to the offensive zone very quickly."
The Pats would like to congratulate both Dylan and Stephen on getting drafted, and would like to give them a warm welcome to the Pats organization and the community of Regina.
The 2022 WHL Prospects draft begins Thursday, May 19 at 9:30 a.m. The Pats will have the sixth overall pick, and four picks inside the first three rounds.
