Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - The Winterhawks' season came to an end on Tuesday as they fell to the Thunderbirds 6-3 in Game 7 of the second round of the 2022 WHL Playoffs.

Nico Myatovic, Jeremy Hanzel (2) and Lucas Ciona helped Seattle out to a 4-0 lead through the first 30 minutes of action, but Portland mounted a comeback before the second period was up. Jaydon Dureau finished off a pretty passing play with James Stefan and Cross Hanas to get Portland on the board at 10:03 of the middle frame, then Robbie Fromm-Delorme tallied at 19:09 with a deflection of Kyle Chyzowski's shot-pass attempt. Both goals were scored on the power play.

Both teams traded goals in the third period, with Lukas Svejkovsky finding twine for Seattle and Fromm-Delorme netting his second for Portland, but Reid Schaefer's empty-netter sealed the Thunderbirds' win.

Thomas Milic picked up the win with 33 saves, while Winterhawks netminder Taylor Gauthier stopped 24 shots.
