March 8, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI - Earning their league-best seventh come-from-behind victory when trailing after the second period, the Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Fort Wayne Komets 4-3 in front 5,328 at Wings Stadium on Saturday night.
Both teams were able to find the back of the net early. Kalamazoo took the lead 5:34 into the game with tally from Nick Sirota (8th). Matt Caria and Matt Firman both earned assists on the goal. The assist by Firman raised his point streak to four games.
Over a minute later the Komets evened the game at 1-1 with marker from Matt Carter (17th).
Chris Auger (25th) put the Komets ahead midway in the stanza with a wrist shot from the right circle.
Just as they did in the first period, Fort Wayne didn't waste any time in the second stanza to get the offense started. Scoring on a slap shot from the point Simon Danis-Pepin netted his fifth goal of the season 45 seconds into the period climbing Fort Wayne's lead to two goals.
Kalamazoo cut the deficit in half 12:12 into the stanza, when Ludwig Blomstand (9th) lit the lamp on a wrap around.
Continuing the comeback in the third period, Justin Taylor (15th) recorded the equalizer by lifting a backhand over Ben Meisner 1:34 into the period.
Kalamazoo pulled ahead for good minutes later when Sirota (9th) completed the bookend goal scoring performance by rocketing a wrister from the top of the right circle. The goal accounted for Sirota's second tally of the night and his first game-winner of the season.
The victory increased the K-Wings overall win streak to four games, as well as extended their home unbeaten streak in regulation to 10 games (9-0-1-0).
