ELMIRA, N.Y. - March 8, 2014 - Tonight the Elmira Jackals close up their week's schedule with a home date against the Wheeling Nailers The Jackals are looking to win three consecutive games for the first time since they defeated Fort Wayne in overtime on Jan. 31, 2014 on their way to four straight victories.
WHO: Elmira Jackals - Ottawa and New Jersey/NHL & Binghamton and Albany/AHL (22-27-7) vs. Wheeling Nailers - Montreal and Pittsburgh/NHL & Hamilton and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton/AHL (28-24-6)

The Jackals are facing the Nailers tonight for the 14th of 15 meetings this season and the eighth of eight at First Arena. Elmira is 3-8-2 against Wheeling this season, which includes a 2-5-0 record on home ice. Elmira has won two of five at home against Wheeling after dropping the first two this season by a combined 8-2 score. Elmira is 3-3-2 in its last eight against Wheeling after the Nailers won five in a row to start the season series. Even though Wheeling has won 10 of the first 13 meetings, the season series has been quite close. Six of the first 13 games have been decided by one goal, and three others have been decided by two. Two of Elmira's three wins, though, have been by identical 5-2 scores (Feb. 21 and Dec. 12 in Wheeling).
Elmira has developed a reputation for jumping out to quick starts in recent games. The Jackals scored first, and within the first 10 minutes of play, in each of their last five games. Over the last three weeks the Jackals have scored the game's first goal in eight of their 11 games (4-3-1 record).
