Road Warriors Get Redemption, Defeats Orlando 5-2

Greenville, S.C.: The Road Warriors routed the Orlando Solar Bears by a score of 5-2 on Saturday night.

The Road Warriors gained an early lead 3:51 into the first period when Cameron ripped a wrist shot past Garret Sparks for his fourth goal of the season. Emerson Clark and Andrew Himelson were awarded the assists on the goal on Cameron's partial breakaway tally. The Road Warriors continued the scoring when Sean Berkstresser scored two minutes later on a power play to put the Road Warriors up 2-0. Berkstresser deflected a shot by Sam Noreau into the net for his sixth goal of the season and his first goal on home ice this year. Goalie Jeff Malcolm held off all of Orlando's 13 shots and the period ended with the Road Warriors ahead by a two goal lead.

Josh Nicholls started the second period for the Road Warriors scoring his 14th goal of the season when he intercepted an Orlando pass 5:52 minutes in. The score continued his goal streak to six games and moved his point streak to nine games. The Road Warriors extended the lead to four goals when Michael St. Croix redirected a shot from Noreau for his 14th goal of the season. Andrew Rowe also scored for Greenville with 4:11 left in the period to take the Road Warriors up 5-0. Rowe rebounded a shot from Andrew Yogan past Sparks. With 13 seconds left in the period, Andrew Johnston snipped his fourth goal of the season to break the shutout. Eric Baier and Tyler Murovich earned the assists. The period ended with the Road Warriors leading 5-1.

The third period began with Orlando scoring 5:52 into the stanza with a goal from Jacob Cepis for his 15th goal of the year. Baier and Connor Goggin were given the assists and the Road Warriors lead was cut to 5-2. The Road Warriors were outshot 19-4 throughout the period but Malcolm held off all scoring chances to aid the Road Warriors to a 5-2 win.

The Road Warriors are back in action Thursday night when they host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. Throwback Thursday returns! Fans can enjoy $2 beers, hot dogs, sodas, and pretzels! In addition, any fan who presents their BI-LO Bonus Card receives a buy-one get one free ticket while supplies last. In addition, any student who presents a student ID at the box office can purchase a Green level ticket for just $5.

The Road Warriors will be wearing Clemson Specialty Jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. Clemson fans ca meet former Clemson athletes and the Clemson Tiger, spirit squads and alumni band will be on hand! There will also be a Youth Cap giveaway! The first 1000 fans 12 and under will receive a Road Warriors Youth Cap, presented by Bon Secours St. Francis Health System and 92.5 WESC.
