Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Elmira, NY- Joel Martin kept the Elmira Jackals off the scoreboard making 15 saves, as the Kalamazoo Wings earned their fourth straight victory with a 2-0 shutout Saturday night.
Scoreless until the second period, rapid passing gave the K-Wings the lead. Following a Kalamazoo penalty kill Sam Ftorek, who came out of the penalty box, received a pass from Adam Polasek and tipped it to a streaking Aaron Clarke (1st). Clarke skated to the high slot and sent a wrister over the shoulder of Scott Greenham.
Great goaltending kept the Jackals off the board early in the third period. After a cross rink pass to Artem Demkov seemed to put Martin out of position. Demkov fired a wrist shot towards the open net; however, Martin recovered by diving across the crease and deflecting the shot over the net.
Building on the momentum of Martin's save, the K-Wings answered moments later with an insurance tally from Ludwig Blomstrand (3rd).
Kalamazoo and Elmira will meet again tomorrow, Sunday, November 24th with a 4:05 p.m. encounter at the First Arena.
The K-Wings will return home on Wednesday, November 27th for a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Florida Everblades on Reunion Night.
